Durban’s beach front has become increasingly popular since it’s revamp for the 2010 World Cup Soccer. Daily you will see runners, cyclists, moms walking with their children and many surfers chilling with a coffee in hand. This is definitely one of my favourite places to be in Durban. There are a bunch of great restaurants to choose from on the promenade as well as on Snell Parade.
151 Snell Parade is where you will find Cafe Jiran. R27 coffee and cake special and you will be hooked! With a delicious Ethiopian blend of coffee and a choice between chocolate cake, carrot cake, cheese cake and lemon meringue cake… this spot will make your day.
I recently spent some of my birthday at Jiran eating chocolate cake and drinking coffee and then this past weekend a few of us stopped in, and without hesitation ordered coffee and cake.
Not only is it a beautiful location but the waiters are friendly and the coffee is great. I have also been told that if it is too hot for coffee they will let you order an iced coffee and cake. WINNER!
So before you drive to the beach, make a pit stop at Jiran and try their coffee and cake special.
If you need a partner in cake eating crime… I’ll be there 🙂
