*** Factory Cafe & Colombo Coffee have merged as one coffee shop COLOMBO COFFEE, and are now located at Shop 1, 59 Kensington Drive, Durban North ***
My absolute favourite coffee shop in Durban is The Factory Cafe (Now known as Colombo Coffee). I think it’s because since they opened they have lead the charge in making consistently great coffee. Their baristas are well trained, they can make you almost any coffee you ask for, and the space is just so unique.
The Factory Cafe is a little drive South at 369 Gale Street (Magwaza Maphalala). There are a lot of one ways but I always find going through Glenwood is the easiest way. The coffee shop is located in the Colombo Coffee roastery. This large, urban space has become a hotspot for freelancers, local business men/women, and coffee drinkers in and around Durban. I’d encourage ALL visitors to Durban to stop by and grab a coffee at The Factory Cafe where you will be met with the friendly faces of Matimba and his co-baristas.
The Factory Cafe serve Colombo Coffee. Roasted on site, Colombo Coffee is one of the top specialty coffees in KZN. The Factory Cafe rotate through a number of unique blends, namely Aggressive Chocolate, Fedora Classic, and their Sweet & Clean blend. I have another whole blog post planned for Colombo Coffee so watch this space! On sale you can also purchase a number of single origin beans, all ready to grind and drink as your choice of home brew coffee.
The Factory Cafe don’t just serve espresso based drinks. You can order a pour over, chemex, slow drip, cold brew or siphon method of coffee. This coffee shop is all about educating people about the many ways of drinking and enjoying coffee.
The Factory Cafe also sell a number of coffee appliances and gadgets. You can stock up on coffee beans, specialty teas of all flavours, replace your grinder, or get your bff an Aeropress for their birthday. They also stock the Hario range of coffee equipment. You can purchase online by clicking here.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this coffee shop exudes passion and a true love of good coffee.
