I was first introduced to coffee cupping when I was invited to a Bloggers Love Coffee morning at Colombo Coffee. As I have traveled around South Africa visiting coffee shops I have found a few other places that offer free coffee cupping sessions.

What is coffee cupping?
Basically it is the way baristas taste for the notes/flavours in coffee. So once the coffee is freshly roasted they grind the beans, pour hot water over them and the process of cupping involves smell and taste. That is a very basic explanation and a lot more goes into identifying the flavours of your favourite coffee beans. There are scales and thermometers involved which is what makes coffee cupping so very exciting to take part in.
Coffee cupping is an awesome experience and I recommend you visit one of these coffee shops to try it out.
